A fun, but forgettable remake of Kitten Cannon
We all remember Kitten Cannon, right? If not, you're either a child who should probably avoid Newgrounds or you've been living under a rock for the last ten years.
Anyways, this game takes it and adds to it. The graphics are phenomenal, the interface is easy to maneuver, and the WASD navigation is a huge plus. The addition of weapons, jetpacks, and new cannons adds a little more skill than just aiming the cannon and shooting. It's a fun game to play, and unlocking everything is a challenge... Well, up until you're after the last tier of everything.
Frankly, once you get the Golden Cannon, the game isn't fun anymore. Getting money becomes too easy, the turtle is off screen half the time, the other half he's falling or rising too fast for the game to process any possible obstacles that may have been in your way. The WASD control is pretty much useless until you get the second cannon, and then it becomes useless again with the Golden Cannon, which would be fine if there weren't another level of cannon. But even so, the game just becomes tedious. Waiting for the turtle takes forever and you start wishing the damn thing would stop so you can see your score. Getting 100,000 is a challenge, but then it becomes a poor round if you get any less than 3,000,000. Skill is only required for the middle of the game, as the game starts slow and ends slow.
The game will pull you in, occupy you for two hours or so, and then spit you back out, wishing you had those two hours back. It's a fun rehashing of Kitten Cannon, the new additions give it a more strategic gameplay... For a little while. The weapons ruin the lasting appeal of besting your old scores that Kitten Cannon does.
